Come to the Canad Inns РHealth Sciences Center on Tuesday evening, October 8th.  We invite you to join us for pizza, programming for children and great presentations for the adults.

We are very excited to have our first event at the Canad Inns – Health Sciences Center. Pizza and salad will be served in the Ambassador B room, on the second floor, from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm. Join us for dinner and visit with fellow members. We will be showing the photos from Family Camp during this time.

Children’s Program Children will remain in the Ambassador B room for activities and fun! This is a great chance for kids to get to know other kids with inherited bleeding disorders in a casual and fun environment. Young people 12 years old and older will be offered the opportunity to go to hear John Schmitke’s presentation.

Adults will gather in the Private Lounge on the main floor after dinner for a series of talks by our guest speakers:

Dr. Roberta Woodgate Living with and Managing Hemophilia from Diagnosis and through Key Care Transitions: The Journey for Families of Children with Hemophilia (all inherited bleeding disorders) Chapter families have been receiving invitations to participate in this study funded by the CHS. This is your chance to learn what the study is about, how it is conducted and what will be done with the study outcomes. If you have been hesitant to participate, this is a great chance to ask your questions.

John Schmitke, Chairman CHS-MC Youth Committee – Creation and Execution of a Care Plan John has been traveling all around Canada delivering this presentation to CHS members between the ages of 18 and 30. It has been very well received. It’s time we had the chance to hear this presentation at home! His message is particularly relevant to our younger members and to new families.

Colin Langedock, Pharmacist, Leila PharmacyServices Offered Through  Leila Pharmacy The Health Aging Committee has learned of the unique services and programs offered by the Leila Pharmacy. This presentation will be of interest to anyone who is navigating health issues beyond their bleeding disorder. The extra services may be help to you and your family.

Milena Pirnat, Chairman Education CommitteeCaring for the Care-Giver Member of our community are often managing the health concerns of our family members with inherited bleeding disorders, aging parents, their own health concerns and more. Life is busy, stressful and complicated. Milena will discuss the importance of self-care for the person who takes on the responsibility of caring for others.
