Invitation  to Participate in the CHS-MC Inherited Bleeding Disorders and Aging Workshop

The Canadian Hemophilia Society, Manitoba Chapter (CHS-MC) would like to invite members with an inherited bleeding disorder, 40 years of age and older, to participate in the Inherited Bleeding Disorders and Aging Workshop scheduled for Wednesday, November 28th, 2012. The workshop will take place at Delta Winnipeg, 350 St. Mary Avenue from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided. Workshop Goals

The goals of this interactive workshop are:

  • To engage people with inherited bleeding disorders, 40 years of age and older, in their health care
  • To conduct an informal needs assessment of the aging bleeding disorders community
  • To collaborate with and access the experience of the Health Care Professionals currently involved with the aging bleeding disorders community, and those who may be of importance to our aging community in the future
  • To be proactive in the creation and delivery of relevant CHS-MC programs, education and services to the aging bleeding disorders community

Participants

Panel Experts

4 to 5 Health Care Professionals from a variety of specialties that are involved with the inherited bleeding disorders community such as: members of the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Program, Pharmacist , Orthopedic specialists and others.

Attendees

Persons with inherited bleeding disorders who are 40 years of age and older

Administration

CHS-MC Staff and volunteers will be responsible for the arrangement and delivery of the workshop.

Format

6:30 pm to 7:00 pm

Panel of Experts will be introduced. The panel participants will describe their profession in relation to inherited bleeding disorders and share 2 to 3 areas where they see challenges for the aging population.

7:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Attendees will be split into two discussion groups. Half of the panel will participate with one group and half with the other. The discussion groups will use the challenges identified by the panel participants, in their group, as a starting point to identify their areas of concern, challenges and experiences, aging with an inherited bleeding disorder.

A volunteer will record the discussion points so they can be shared.

 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm

The panel participants will change discussion groups and the groups will use the challenges identified by the new panel participants in their group, as a starting point to identify their areas of concern, challenges and experiences, aging with an inherited bleeding disorder.

A volunteer will record the discussion points so they can be shared.

8:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Each discussion group will share their findings.
